Dawn Seiter, APCC

Dawn Seiter, (APCC #15516), is a dedicated Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor under the supervision of Christine Peng (LCSW #102479). With a rich background in education and a passion for mental health, she brings a unique perspective to her counseling practice.

Her clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adult survivors of abuse, neglect, and trauma while interning at Home Start, Inc. She has experience in individual, group, and family therapy. Dawn's mission is to provide culturally competent, holistic, and wellness-focused services that promote positive social-emotional growth, prevent the development of mental health challenges, and address any problematic issues that currently exist. She achieves this by integrating her teaching expertise with evidence-based strategies, implementing effective mental health consultation through best practices, and striving for excellence in supporting mental health care for all her clients.

Before pursuing her career in counseling, Dawn spent 15 years as an educator, teaching in diverse communities across San Diego, from Julian to Chula Vista. During her time as a teacher, Dawn developed a keen ability to connect with her students and families on a personal level, fostering an environment of trust and open communication. This skill has translated seamlessly into her work as a counselor, where she strives to create a safe and supportive space for her clients to explore their thoughts, experiences, and emotions. Dawn's teaching background has also honed her skills in group dynamics and classroom management, which have proven invaluable in her work with families and groups in therapy. She understands the importance of collaboration and effective communication in both personal and therapeutic settings, and she leverages these skills to facilitate meaningful discussions and promote positive outcomes for her clients.

In addition to her teaching experience, Dawn holds a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University (2020), where she developed a strong foundation in evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques. Her commitment to ongoing education and professional development ensures that she stays familiar with the latest advancements in the field, allowing her to provide the highest standard of care to her clients. She looks forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey towards mental and emotional well-being!
